Can you detect PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) through a normal gyno exam?

My mom had pcos, and I recently started taking birth control. I'm 18 and my periods are not regular at all, and I think I have the same condition. Because I started taking birth control, I have a pap smear scheduled in a month.

Would they be able to tell if I had PCOS through that exam? Or does that require blood work/ultrasounds, something like that?
