You're a perfect example of this, John Evans.

Speaking as an Irish bi-sexual (see how assumptions never work?)”
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -
I made no such assumption. With a handle like bty949950 you could well be a V.W.Golf? Anyway, how many times have you used this crutch? It would make no difference if you were a Hawaiian nose flautist. Out of curosity was the 'little' correct?
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -

You go on to say “I never suggested that any stigma should be attached to people being obese.”
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -
You said that obese people had bad genes. If that’s not stigmatising what is? It is also inaccurate.

Obesity is a complex disease for which no single cause or cure exists. You gain weight when you take in more calories than you burn off. But obesity is influenced by many other factors as well: family history, the type of work you do, race, and environment.

So may I assume you are an ignorant Irish bi-sexual?
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -

You continue “I said that people who have medical conditions causing obesity AND a failure to conceive are probably nature's way of preventing the passing on of bad genes. Bad genetics are a fact of life. No one with any sense would breed puppies from a $%^& with known genetic problems,”

———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -

You don’t know much about dog breeding either, although Most dogs have had the bad genes needed to survive in the wild (ideally as wolves, which I assume (there I go again) people like you hunted to extinction) bred out of them by genetic engineers. Rejects were of course clubbed over the head or drowned. Presumably what you'd like to see happen to the overweight.
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -

Finally you say “so why the heck would we knowingly produce a *child* with poor health? The increasing number of children being born with hereditary illnesses is a direct result of people 'playing god' when plain common sense should dictate caution.”
———————————————————- -
———————————————————- -

It’s you chum who’s playing God, which is exactly what The Third Reich tried to do (actually they played Satan).

How insultingly patronising to misstate the obvious. Has it not occured to you, that people with hereditary diseases, of all sorts; think long and hard, before getting pregnant?

In conclusion, is it in order to assume you are an ignorant little bi-sexual, Irish Nazi?

PCOS treatment, high testosterone levels?

I have a very high testosterone level for a girl and I think I might have PCOS or Adrenal Hyperplasia, I'm still waiting for the lab results. But I was wondering if the testosterone level decrease, estrogen level will increase right? If estrogen levels increase will that make me an emotional person? I'm not looking forward to becoming an emotional person. I know it's a silly concern, but does anyone have any ideas.

I have PCOS and am awaiting IVF treatment does anyone have any advise?

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com
Hope this helps.

Has anyone ever had ovarian drilling (the procedure where they make incisions on your ovaries to help it release ova)? My doctor is thinking that it might be the way for me to go but I am concerned about scar tissue on my ovaries making it harder to release eggs later. Of course I will talk to my doctor about these questions, but I wondered if anyone has had any experience with this.

TTC 16months, I have a number of cysts (follicles) on my ovaries, but the doctor stopped short of absolutely diagnosing PCOS.

Yahoo! Message Boards – Healthcare – Infertility Must be covered under Insurance

To those of you who conceived children naturally, thank God everyday for your blessings. For those of us who aren't so lucky, something needs to change in the healthcare system. Only 13 states require infertility coverage, but there are still ways around those requirements. The other 37 have no mandate for infertility insurance coverage at all. This has forced so many couples to find other ways to pay CASH in hopes that a very complicated treatment will be successful and they might be able to have a family. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I don't have $20000 lying around. The lack of infertility healthcare has plunged so many couples into a bottomless debt with no guarantee of having a family. Second mortgages, multiple credit cards, lines of credit, and selling of personal items, are the tip of what a couple have to sacrifice in hopes of having a baby. Self-inflicted sicknesses, such as drug or alcohol abuse, are covered for treatment. Why are those covered, but infertility is not? Infertility randomly affects people, just like cancer or diabetes. It is essential that infertility victims receive the same rights and proper care as those with other health concerns. Infertility is a sickness that shouldn’t drive couples to being broke and unable to afford to live.

The Holistic Approach To Treating Ovarian Cysts

ovarian cysts are an increasingly common gynaecological problem, particularly in women between the ages of 30 and 60. Most types of ovarian cysts are harmless and go away without any treatment, but when this does not happen, problems can occur.

An ovarian cyst is a sac or pouch that develops in or on the ovary. The contents of the cyst are usually fluid but can also be solid material, or a combination of both. Cysts may grow quietly and go unnoticed until they are found on routine examination. However, if they become large enough, the following symptoms may arise:

- Intense abdominal pain
- Menstrual changes such as late periods, bleeding between periods or irregular periods
- Heavy menstrual flow
- Infertility
- Internal bleeding
- Severe menstrual cramps
- Pain with sexual intercourse
- Pain during a bowel movement
- Weight gain

The most common way to deal with ovarian cysts is the conventional medical approach.

However, there are limited treatment options, and the resulting stress is rarely taken into account by medical practitioners, and can just be too much for a woman to bear. Therefore, more and more women are turning towards alternate forms of treatments for curing ovarian cysts.

The Conventional medical approach to ovarian cysts is very simple. Firstly, your medical practitioner will try to recognize the symptoms. Those sysmtons listed above are the textbook symptons of ovarian cysts. However, sometimes, ovarian cysts do not give rise to any symptoms, and are only discovered inadvertently during routine gynaecological examination.

Secondly, he will confirm his diagnosis. There are different ways of diagnosing ovarian cysts. A conventional doctor will use some or all of: endovaginal ultrasound (using a probe inserted into the vagina), CT scanning (a method of examining body organs by scanning them with X rays), laparoscopy (a procedure that allows your surgeon to examine the fallopian tubes, ovaries and womb), blood tests and many other forms of tests to confirm his suspicions. Even before treatment, the diagnosis process itself can be very traumatic.

Thirdly, the treatment. The treatment for ovarian cysts will depend upon the type of the cyst and it
1000
s nature. The 3 conventional options available are:

1. Wait and see: Provided that the cyst is benign (non-cancerous) and the patient is not suffering pain, a wait and see approach will be adopted. Monitoring of the condition will continue using some or all of the standard diagnostic tests.

2. Birth control pills: Some doctors believe birth control pills repress ovarian cysts, and can also reduce the size of the follicles and so help to reduce the size of existing cysts.

3. Surgery: If the cysts are persistent or increasing in size, then surgery is likely to be recommended. Surgery will again depend upon the type of cyst and the resulting complications. Usually, the cyst is all that is removed. In some cases, it may be considered necessary to remove the ovaries also.

The conventional medical approach to ovarian cysts has several problems. Birth control pills have many potential side effects, including weight gain, mood swings, nausea, and headaches. Also, the effectiveness of the birth control pill as a treatment for an existing cyst is greatly disputed, particularly outside conventional medicine.

Surgery obviously always carries its own risks, and there can be particular risks associated with any surgery on the reproductive organs. Also, conventional treatment does not fully cure ovarian cysts and the surgery may actually increase the chances of ovarian cysts in the long run.

For these reasons, conventional medical treatment is often not considered to be an appropriate form of treatment for ovarian cysts. A multidimensional approach is required to deal with the disease. This can be provided only by a holistic approach. The holistic approach targets the root causes of the disease rather than the symptoms, and so is a much more effective cure for ovarian cysts.

Since the holistic approach targets the key causes of the condition, the woman can recover quickly. The approach is comprehensive and rather than a generic solution, it treats every case individually. Because of this, no matter how severe the problem or the complications, any woman suffering with ovarian cysts can be cured.

Conventional medical treatment often fails in this respect. The underlying problem must be solved for any lasting remedy. Until this is achieved, the problem will remain. The holistic approach is the best form of treatment for permanently removing ovarian cysts.

The cause of PCOS is unknown and many physicians believe that a combination of causes likely contribute to the overall condition. Some of these likely causes are heredity, genes, insulin, body chemistry and even weight. Additionally, it is not known if the disease is caused by one factor or a combination of issues.

Women who suffer from PCOS often exhibit the same symptoms:

o	High levels of androgens, which are sometimes called male hormones. Please note that it is not uncommon for females to produce these male hormones but not in high levels as they occur in women with PCOS.

o	Infertility

o	Irregular or missed periods

o	Many small ovarian cysts

o	Acne, dandruff or oily skin

o	Weight gain

o	Diabetes

o	High blood pressure and cholesterol

o	Thinning or balding hair

o	Thickened or blackened skin on the necks, arms, breasts and/or thighs

o	Pelvic pain

o	Anxiety or depression

o	Sleep Apnea

It is estimated that as many as one in ten women suffer from PCOS and it can occur in girls as young as ten. PCOS is also the most common reason females cannot get pregnant. Early diagnosis allows a female to treat the disease as fully as possible.

PCOS is a common cause of infertility because affects a woman’s ability to ovulate. Typically, the easiest way to treat women who are not ovulating (because of PCOS or something else) is to give them medication that helps them ovulate.

This is where Clomid and Metformin comes in.

The two most common forms of medication prescribed for women with PCOS are Clomid (clomiphene citrate) and Metformin (a diabetes drug). The goal of these drugs is to aid women in ovulation and thus make them able to conceive. The two drugs can be used separately or in combination.

Recent studies have been conducted to determine using Clomid separately, Metformin separately, or both in combination, were better for women with PCOS. These were conducted by the makers of the drugs but one independent study by the New England Journal of Medicine looked at the same issues and came to several interesting conclusions. Most studies indicated that the best first line defense for women who have problems ovulating due to PCOS, is Clomid.

The pregnancy rate for women taking Clomid was 22.5%. The pregnancy rate for women taking Metformin was 7.2%. Groups taking both together had more ovulations, but pregnancy rates were not significant enough to make taking them in combination a better option than just taking Clomid. The rates of pregnancy success were the same in all groups tested.

No drug, no matter how good, is complete without side effects. Individuals who take Clomid sometimes suffer from mood issues, headaches, hot flashes, ovarian enlargement and hostile cervical mucous. Your doctor can prescribe other drugs to combat the side effects, including over the counter drugs. Discussing your options with your doctor is the surest way to discover if Clomid can help you with your PCOS and infertility issues.

Wow, Somebody! You really haven't done any research at all, have you?!? I honestly don't think you realize how uneducated and ignorant you are making yourself sound.

“…it is medically proven that maternity care for mothers is effective in the end goal, healthy mom, healthy baby.”

It is also MEDICALLY PROVEN that infertililty trreatments work and the mom and baby are also taken good care of during pregnancy. I just lost a baby after two long years of trying to concieve. Are you telling me that my unborn child's life meant nothing? You have no clue as to what the sub-fertile population has to go through. If the treatments had been available to me, that child's life could have been saved.

“Taking care of someone in a medical condition is a medical necesity.”

Infertility IS a MEDICAL CONDITION! If it's not then why on earth are there DR'S to TREAT IT!!??!!

“Infertility treatments are a crap shoot, they rarely work but are extremely expensive they also lead to multiple gestation that leads to further health problems for the woman and baby(ies). I agree with Steve, when would enough be enough, and would women who seek the treatment be willing to accept the fact that their insurance company just might deny the procedures because they won't work for them. Infertility doctors rarely tell women the truth about how effective treatments really are.”

See…this makes NO sense. What in the world are you talking about that treatments are a crap shoot?? There are hit and miss cases but the statistics are GREAT for success rates! Awesome, actually! Besides, there are cancer patients who go through rigorous Chemo and yet the cancer is still not into remission. Medical Treatmenat, all of them, take time. Of course, as we've ALREADY covered, there would be a CAP. Duh! There has to be a cap and at the end of that CAP, the couple would have to take things over with personal finances. Many of us are only asking for at least ONE SHOT…that's all and I don't think it's too much to ask for! What the hell do you mean that they rarely tell the truth?? I do believe that would be considered fraud and they would be hit with lawsuit after lawsuit. Not smart. Besides, it's the FDA that keeps track of statistics for IVF treatment in the first place. I really don't see the FDA being in a position to “rarely tell the truth.”

“It is truly sad that we live in such a society that the worth of a woman rests so much on her womb and ability to breed.”

I have no clue where you pulled this from? The worth of a woman does not depend on the ability to breed! Women are worth more than that as we've certainly proved over decades of Women's Rights Acts. This fight has nothing to do with how society looks on women anyway. The topic is to deal with a medical issue that deserves medical coverage. If you had done any research, you would see that infertility leads to other mishaps in women…one of those things being diabetes if PCOS if left untreated.

PCOS holistic treatment- dr. near san jose?

Hi
I was diagnosed with PCOS three months ago. Since then I've lost around 10 pounds and my general and hormonal health seem to be improving. However, I'm having a terrible time finding a doctor in the bay area who will look at PCOS holistically rather than pushing Clomid at me (i'm ttc). I know Clomid is a successful method of treatment, but I wish to find a doctor who will first identify how many cysts I have and monitor it as I continue to lose weight.. How do I find such a doc? Can I request a phone consultation with a doctor? What kinds of tests do I ask for to detect the number of cysts? (some kind of ultrasound?)

A Natural Treatment For The Removal Of Ovarian Cysts

The removal of ovarian cysts can for many women be a frightening prospect, particularly because in some cases a doctor will want to remove the entire ovary instead of cutting the cyst out. For women like you, this just is not an option, especially if you are interested in having children, or are just daunted by the hormonal imbalance issues of getting rid of your ovaries.

Rare thinking people like yourself already know that most cysts will go away on their own, with no medical interference whatsoever. This for you is good news since it shows that you don’t inevitably have to go through surgery or have your hormone levels checked. Unfortunately such treatment does little to help you in the short-term. As you are becoming aware living with the abdominal pain, the bloating, the fatigue, and anxiety that ovarian cysts cause is totally unnecessary.

Today many women are turning to natural treatments to rid them selves of not only their cysts, but all the baggage that comes along with them. There is no reason why you should suffer. One quick remedy you can try at home to alleviate severe abdominal pain is to use a heating pad and drink some herbal tea. Also by Increasing your fiber and water intake you can reduce abdominal pressure.

Envision yourself being able to live your life without the every day pelvic pain and discomfort that ovarian cysts bring. The good news is that natural treatments for ovarian cysts provide a long term solution that will allow you to keep your ovaries and enjoy life once more. Scientists have proven that with a few simple lifestyle changes, the hormonal stress or insulin imbalances can be reversed and set you on your way to healthy ovaries again.

The removal of ovarian cysts does not have to come from your doctor’s office, by applying certain techniques you will be able to achieve more than you thought possible from the safety and comfort of your own home.

The pain that females endure from Ovarian Cysts can be intense and cause a great deal of suffering. But these brave women often just grin and bear it.

There are several treatment options available to you if you have just discovered that you have an Ovarian Cyst and you will find some of the best and most common http://ovariancystcures.org/ovariancystcures described in this article.

Some Kinds Of Treatment Available To Cure Ovarian Cysts.

Removal of Ovarian Cysts by surgery is a last resort and is an extreme form of treatment. However, there is no damage to the ovaries when the Ovarian Cyst is removed.

The Cystectomy surgical procedure is mostly reserved for women with cancer of the bladder. But in the cases when the cysts is cancerous, this is usually not carried out and instead, one or two ovaries may be removed.

Removal of the ovaries, resulting from cancerous Ovarian Cysts, is a very serious operation and is only carried out as a last resort. Here are one of the reasons why. The removal of the ovaries is undertaken by a procedure called Oophorectomy following which the function of the body to produce or regulate estrogen ceases. To counter-balance this deficiency a course of Hormone Replacement Therapy is usually prescribed.

In the case of non-cancerous Ovarian Cysts, there are alternative treatments to surgery. The alternatives are sometimes successful in not only preventing Ovarian Cysts to grow in the first place, but can also make the disappear completely. Naturally, we are only talking about non-cancerous cases here. Cancerous cases always involve surgery.

The Pill

One unlikely treatment option for ovarian cysts is the contraceptive pill.

Many medics prescribe the birth pill not to do away with the current cyst, but to head off future ones from forming. The hormones in the pill can prevent cysts from growing any larger. This happens because the patient can miss a few periods.

According to medical investigation, it is safe for females to go 3 months without having a period. An Ovarian Cyst can’t be formed when a women is not menstruating and that won’t happen if she misses periods.

If the formation of Ovarian Cysts is a family trait, or they occur frequently, then taking the birth pill is maybe something to try.

Other Methods Of Treating Non-Cancerous Ovarian Cysts

If you would like to try out alternative treatments then making specific changes to your diet and adding a few antioxidant supplements may be the best choice.

Excellent results have been reported by some practitioners of http://ovariancystcures.org/ovariancystcures and they positively rave about them. This is in contrast to others who have tried them and are lukewarm at best, only serving to recall that one particular remedy is not for everyone.

One thing to keep in mind with alternative treatments is that you should consult your doctor first. This is true before you make any changes to your diet and lifestyle.

If you are an Ovarian Cyst sufferer, then you now have some alternative remedy suggestions to think about and perhaps research further. Further research will give more information, but before finally deciding you should check out your ideas with your physician before going ahead because he will be able to help you determine what option is best for you.

Coming out of her appalling experience of defeating a particularly large and debilitating Ovarian Cyst, Olivia Curtis decided to pass on her story to fellow suffers so that they might benefit from her knowledge and research.

This can be found at her website which contains not only her story and useful articles, but also several videos showing what Ovarian Cysts are and how they can be treated.

Learn A Proven Natural Treatment For Ovarian Cysts

Are you one of the many women that suffer daily and are not told about a natural treatment for ovarian cysts? The next time you go to see your doctor, be sure to ask him about the natural treatments that are available. Such treatments have been known to act quickly and be far more effective than recognized medications that your doctor may be prescribe.

You’re obviously intelligent enough to know that conventional medicines centre on symptoms rather than prevention, and doctors typically encourage women to take birth control pills that they don’t really need. This particular line of treatment does nothing but cover up the symptoms she’s having, and will not prevent future painful ovarian cysts from developing. The same is true of surgery, it can remove any cysts that are presently on the ovary, but will not prevent any future cysts from growing.

Picture yourself a few days from now pain free, and imagine how you will feel when you no longer have to put up with that dull aching abdominal pain?

By treating ovarian cysts naturally, is it possible to really remove and prevent them from coming back in the future? Yes, it has been scientifically proven that by focusing on the prevention of cysts rather than what your doctor would normally prescribe to you, ovarian cysts can be a thing of the past.

Among the best ways to reduce pain, inflammation, and pressure on your lower pelvic area is the application of heat. A warm bath will achieve this or by the use of a heating pad.

Of course you probably already know that many doctors don’t tell their patients about the natural treatment for ovarian cysts that are available. But you can be ahead of the game by increasing your fiber, water, and vitamin intake, this will make it less likely that you will develop cysts in the future because of them. The bottom line is this, by changing lifestyle habits you can very often remove the need for pills or surgery, for relief from a ruptured ovarian cyst.

What do you do? Well you can watch them month to month, and if they resolve, which most of them will, the problem is gone. If such a cyst grows or causes more problems, then she should also have a laparotomy. Now, if that woman – well, the other way is of course, many of these women you’d say listen, what we need to do is put you on a short course of birth control pills to see if the cysts stop forming.

Birth control pills, the way they work, is they, they work on the complex mechanism that regulates ovulation, interrupting all those pathways that I briefly described earlier and that complex pathway interrupted, no more ovulation occurs, no more functional cysts occur. And the cyst that was there will most likely resolve because of less feedback from the other hormones so birth control pills in a way you could say could cure cysts. But these are the cysts-

That may not always be an option for some women that have problems with birth control pills or other side effects.

For those women, those group of women who cannot take birth control pills. If for whatever reason, and there’s a litany we won’t get into here of women who cannot take the pill for one reason or the other, then it would be expected management, that’s basically just watching and seeing, cause most of these will go away within three menstrual cycles. If they do not, then, then most likely she’s going to have a laparotomy. Obstetrician Gynecologist, Christopher Freville, recommends you could also do a laparoscopy. A laparoscopy again is a very common term, this is where a telescope like tube with a light on it is put in, the doctor is able to look through an incision in the naval, while of course I might add the patient is asleep and fully anesthetized, is able to look at the pelvic organs. But if the doctor sees a six-centimeter cyst, he is going to operate anyway, so most of the time that would be a procedure that would not have a purpose. She needs a laparotomy to make sure that this particular ovary cyst isn’t one of the other cysts, of course the endometriomas, the sustatnomas, the dermoid cysts, the polycystic ovaries, which usually aren’t going to show up as large cysts.

And of course, the last category is the rarer cystic tumor that would be cancerous. So, the management basically is one of just, in most women is, in the reproductive age group is going to be wait and see. You know, reassurance, come back in a month. You can take, if the cyst goes away, great, if it doesn’t or if it slowly resolves fine, if it doesn’t go away, you can offer a course of birth control pills. If that’s not acceptable or not possible, then the last way is to of course to actually take a look through an incision, a laparotomy.

And that I think that pretty much sums up the actual treatment of cysts, at least as far as a diagnostic program. There are other treatments of cysts, and I will mention these each by the category. So we got a functional cyst that are self-resolving or you’re going to use birth control pills. We’ve got the endometriomas which begin the endometriosis on the ovary. This is a case that needs to be treated with various medications. There are medications to suppress ovulations, stop the period which burns up in the endometriosis and it’s generally about 90% effective, and also causes fertility when you get these to go away. So the chocolate cysts once they are, they’re usually removed at laparotomy, you can also cauterize them, that’s zapping them with electricity. Again, the patient is asleep because the endometriomas and endometriosis are usually multiple places in the pelvis, and then follow up with medications to suppress ovulation.

Yahoo! UK News Message Boards – Pregnancy – Overweight and pregnant

I am absolutely disgusted by some of the remarks on here. I am size 14/16 and my baby was born very very healthy and is thriving. I put on a lot of weight due to thyroid problems and also PCOS which causes rapid weight gain, so how can you be so negative about these women if you do not know their individual cir$%^&stances? I eat healthy and exercise infact I am heathier than my size 10 sister. Your comments on this board are disgusting and very prejudice! You shoudl be ashamed of yourselves quite frankly.
