Yahoo! UK News Message Boards – Pregnancy – Obese to be refused IVF?
I myself have had fertility treatment and had one round of IVF which was successful thankfully. I am a non-smoker and not overweight and did everything I could to be as healthy as possible whilst trying to get pregnant for 8 years.
I got onto the waiting list, and as I am married and neither myself or my husband have any other children. We had to wait 11 months even once we were top of the list as all the years funding had been used up. We do need to face facts that there are limited funds available to the NHS and criteria do need to be set to choose priorities for any treatment.
I mst say that I agree that everything should be done to make it as fair as possible – and IVF is less successful in obese people and smoking damages the unborn child, therefore I believe individuals should need to lose weight or stop smoking to be offered treatment over people who have already done this.
I also believe that childless couples should get priority for the free treatment.
If the NHS funded all IVF without some criteria our taxes would be through the roof OR some other services would have to be cut – something I don't think anyone would want.
This world is not a fair place – but that is a fact of life I'm afraid.

And she found out during her second pregnancy that she had a dermoid cyst on her right ovary. And she writes in that we consulted a doctor that said it wasn’t the cause of my miscarriage, and can I still try getting pregnant? It was almost a year passed since I had my Read the rest of this entry »

A cyst can rupture be it a, most likely it’s a follicular cyst or a corpus luteum cyst. These are the so-called functional cysts, or the functional cyst with pregnancy. When they rupture generally nothing happens. In fact, there’s usually a pressure relief.

Can a cyst become cancerous? Now, here’s the big question.
That’s again the cancer fear that all women have. The answer, I’d say is no. This has been looked at pretty, pretty extensively. There was a rather large study I think it was in Sweden. They looked at something like 90,000 – they’ve got a very sophisticated system of registry in Sweden where they can look at data. And Read the rest of this entry »
